In response to the many fans knocking on the doors of Industrial Light & Magic and Skywalker Ranch, George Lucas considered developing a permanent attraction at Ghirardelli Square that would present the stories and props of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones movies. A+A was contracted as the concept designer of this unique attraction that would serve as an anchor for the revitalization of Ghirardelli Square. Inspired by the sketch techniques of ILM artists, Tom Ancona presented the attraction concept to George Lucas at Skywalker Ranch as a series of storyboard vignettes with accompanying scripts.
