The Diavik Diamond Mine began operations in 2003, and was designed as a state-of-the-art facility that elevated mining industry standards for environmental management and social responsibility. Tom Ancona and photographer James Bareham captured this story by flying to this remote and frigid site on the barren lands just below the Arctic Circle. The story of the mine, and the journey of the diamond from mine to market was chronicled in a storybook called The Diamond with the Story.
Designed for presentation to consumers upon their purchase, the story and photo essay established the basis for a comprehensive marketing program that included retail communications, displays, advertising and trade events. A+A designed, produced and installed these retail displays, each fabricated from recycled Kimberlite from the Diavik Mine, the volcanic mineral that carries the diamonds up to the earth’s surface.
